The Church in an Age of Polarization: Biblical Wisdom for Times of Division
The Church of Jesus is embedded in a late-modern democracy that is characterized by pluralism and polarization. That is, we live in a culture with many opinions and many beliefs — and we often sharply disagree on these opinions and beliefs! How should Christians navigate this twenty-first culture? Should we say, “Why can’t we all just get along?” Or should we attack error wherever we see it? The Scriptures insist that Christians must maintain unity, agree with one another, and live peaceably with everyone (Eph. 4:1-16; 2 Cor. 13:11; Rom. 12:18) while yet remaining different and distinct in the world (Mark 9:50). We’re called, it seems, to be very different from the world while yet relating wisely to all the differences in the world! How can this be? Join us as we develop a framework for navigating times of division with the wisdom of God.
