He will be teaching two seminars and Q&A sessions based on his upcoming book, The Fatherhood Effect: Consequences of a Dad-Deprived Culture--and Practical Strategies for Positive Change, releasing this November. Can we remain true to God while making our home in a world hostile to faith? 

How can we foster courageous faith while living in a city that does not honor the Lord? 

How can we maintain confident hope when we face the counterfeit gods of our culture?

These were pressing questions for Daniel, and they are pressing questions for all God’s people who live in contexts where being Christian is no longer the norm. Men, join us as we learn from Daniel and his friends how to cultivate courageous faith in post-Christian world.

We invite you to join us as we study the first 11 chapters of 1 Kings. We will discover how the book of 1 Kings fits within the greater narrative arc of Scripture, revealing God‘s faithfulness as a promise-keeping and perfectly wise God. As we study Solomon’s rise, reign, and eventual fall, we will consider what his story reveals about our own hearts and how he points us to Jesus—the true and greater King.

We will meet September 13th through November 1st, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

We’re called, it seems, to be very different from the world while yet relating wisely to all the differences in the world! How can this be? Join us as we develop a framework for navigating times of division with the wisdom of God. 

Details: This 6-week class is taught by Pastor Rick Whitlock and meets in the Ministry House on Sunday mornings from 8:45-9:40am. Class begins September 13 and ends October 18. 

Family worship means treating the home as a little church, where everyone gathers briefly to read Scripture, pray, and sing. It centers the home on Christ and provides a regular means for parents to disciple their children and pass on the faith. Join us as we learn together and offer practical guidance for practicing family worship as a gift of God’s kindness in your home.

Details: This 6-week class will be taught by Pastor Corey Smith and others. It will meet in the Ministry House on Sunday mornings from 8:45-9:40am, beginning October 25 and ending November 29.

Discover Midtown provides an opportunity for anyone interested in Christianity or Midtown Church to learn about the mission, vision, and values of the church. After reviewing the core beliefs of evangelical Christianity, participants will learn about the convictions of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) and the distinctions and commitments that make Midtown Church unique. Upon completion of the course, participants will have the opportunity to become a member of Midtown Church.

Join the women of Midtown after worship on September 20th, at the ministry house, for a time of fellowship and a meal together. If you are new to Midtown this is a great way to get to know some women in the church. Please bring a brunch item to share. We hope to see you there!

Our bi-annual church work day will take place on Saturday, October 10th from 8:30 - 2:30. You do not need to stay the whole time but instead the deacons ask that people serve in one of two, three hour shifts, 8:30 - 11:30 and 11:30 - 2:30. You don’t need to bring any tools, just work gloves if you have them. No particular skills are needed. As long as you are willing to roll up your sleeves and jump in, there will be a place for you!

The Midtown Missions Team invites you to an evening of prayer at the Ministry House on Wednesday, October 14 at 7:30pm. We will pray for our Midtown missionaries, local ministries, our church, city, and beyond! This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the missionaries and ministries connected to Midtown and to join fellow believers in praying for the advancement of the Gospel to the ends of the earth!
